I have been an HCPC registered specialist paediatric diabetes dietitian since 2013 and before that an adult diabetes dietitian. I am currently Clinical Lead for Dietetics at SASH. I am also a research student. I am studying for a Professional Doctorate in Health and Social Care at LSBU. I am also a member of the committee of the BDA Autism Subgroup.
I have been asked to present on neurodiversity and diabetes and diet for ISPAD, the CYPD dietitians network and the PDSG of the BDA.
I have also presented to my doctoral student colleagues and presented a poster.
I am recruiting other paediatric dietitians to explore their perceptions of how they tailor diabetes education for autistic children and young people. This explorative study will add to the research in this area, the understanding of dietitians, and may impact practice.
